Avoid toxic chemicals in personal care and household products
Here are some tips to avoid the unhealthy chemicals found in most personal care and household products:
1) Stop using shampoo.
You don't need it. Most shampoos contain endocrine disrupting chemicals like parabens and phthalates.1 Just wash your hair with water. Be sure to rub your scalp to break up any sebum. Then towel dry. Oily hair? Once you stop stripping away your body’s natural oil, production will gradually decrease to normal levels. Your hair will end up looking great, and you will smell like a human instead of a flower.
2) Stop using conventional soap.
Modern soap has the same unwanted chemicals. Instead use a traditional unscented lye soap like Grandma's Pure Soap. Use it for your hands, feet, armpits, and groin only. Your other parts don't need soap.
3) Stop using deodorant.
Deodorants have the same unwanted chemicals. Lemon juice works better, and it won’t clog your pores. It also doesn't interfere with the production of natural pheromones, which are important for sexual response.
4) Stop using conventional laundry detergent.
Laundry detergent has the same unwanted chemicals. A tablespoon of washing soda (sodium carbonate) works great for general cleaning. Spot-treat stains with a natural ingredient soap stick like the one made by the company, Meliora.
5) Stop using toothpaste
You don't need it. A lot of toothpastes contain titanium dioxide, which is banned in Europe over concerns it causes DNA damage.2 A lot of toothpastes contain sodium lauryl sulfate, a detergent that irritates gum tissue.3 In addition, there are synthetic flavors and artificial sweeteners. Toothpaste was originally invented as a gimmick to get people to brush more often. Ever since it has been pure marketing. Just brush your teeth with water and a soft brush. Better yet, use a boar's hair toothbrush to avoid microplastics.4
6) Stop using mouthwash
It destroys your oral microbiome, which decreases nitric oxide production, which increases your blood pressure.5 Instead, buy a metal tongue scraper and gently scrape your tongue, which has the opposite effect on your blood pressure.6
